Every year more than 1200 are killed and another 40,000 seriously injured on Australian roads. Traffic injury is the biggest killer of Australian children under 15 and the second-biggest killer of all Australians aged between 15 and 24. Most importantly it is preventable.
National Road Safety Week (NRSW) is an annual initiative created by the Safer Australian Roads and Highways (SARAH) Group and is supported by Governments, Councils, corporates, small businesses, unions, the education sector, road safety organisations and individuals across the country.
This year, NRSW was held from 5 to 12 May. Our Partners and Supporters worked tirelessly to shine a light on how we can all make a difference. National and State launches were held, buildings, bridges and icons were lit in yellow, road safety and meetings were held, and yellow ribbon were worn, displayed on vehicles to honour those we have lost, to remember those who are grieivng, and stand in solidarity with those who have been seriously injured in road crashes…
And most imporantly, more than 10,000 people took the Pledge to make the roads safer for everyone.
And you can still take the Pledge by clicking here… no email addresses or telephone numbers are taken… You are making the Pledge to yourself to “Drive So Others Survive!” so everyone can #GetHomeSafe!
